Welcome to this month’s update of newly released features. In December, we focused on getting customers through year-end payroll with confidence while continuing to strengthen the data and infrastructure that support accurate pay, reporting, and compliance.
W-2 generation, year-end reports, and required filings are already underway in Zeal, so teams can head into the new year knowing the fundamentals are covered. Alongside that work, we shipped updates that improve job-level data, contractor pay flexibility, and compliance automation.

Jobs and Departments - We’ve introduced two new entities, Jobs and Departments, to structure work details inside Zeal. This creates cleaner data that maps more reliably to front-office systems, improves job-level attribution (wage, bill rate, department, location), enables more automations, and allows for more accurate reporting on labor costs and profitability.

Line Items & Deductions in Contractor Payments in API - (Dashboard coming soon) Contractor payments now support itemized line items and deductions through the API. Use this to pass equipment fees, bonuses, adjustments, reimbursements, and more, with visibility into how contractor payouts are structured.

SOC Codes - Zeal now uses AI to automatically determinerelevant SOC codes based on the job title. We also use the suggested SOC code on the paystub in the states where SOC codes are now being required on paystubs, unless another one has been selected.
